In accordance with the policy approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the contact info a domain name is registered with must be correct and up to date all the time. Plus, this info is freely visible on WHOIS sites and while this may not be a problem for firms, it may not be very convenient for individuals, since everybody can view their names and their personal postal and email addresses, particularly in an age when identity fraud isn’t that unusual. That’s the reason why domain registrars have introduced a service that conceals the details of their clients without changing them. The service is called Whois Privacy Protection. If it is activated, people will see the details of the registrar company, not the domain owner’s, if they make a WHOIS lookup. The Whois Privacy Protection service is supported by all generic domain name extensions, but it’s still not possible to hide your info with certain country-code extensions.

Whois Privacy Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you have ordered a cloud hosting from our company and you have registered one or more domain names under your account, you will be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of them without difficulty and to keep your personal details intact. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support such a service. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you will notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol to the right of each of your domain names. Its color will tell you if a domain is protected or not and in the second case, you can enable Whois Privacy Protection with just a couple of clicks of the mouse. In this way, you can protect your personal info even if you haven’t added the Whois Privacy Protection service during the hosting account activation procedure. You’ll be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Enabling Whois Privacy Protection for any domain is stunningly easy if you have a semi-dedicated server. As long as the domain name is registered through us, it will be displayed in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel that comes with every semi-dedicated plan. In case a particular generic or country-specific domain supports Whois Privacy Protection, you will notice a mini button on its right. To activate the service, you’ll have to click on it. In the exact same manner, you can also renew or deactivate the service. You can enable Whois Privacy Protection for a domain during the signup procedure as well, but since the Whois Privacy Protection service is optional, we’ll give you the chance to add it to any of your domain names at a later time in case you change your mind and opt to conceal your private information from the public eye after you’ve already created the account.
